Street parking in Bari costs €2 an hour in Murat and €1 an hour in the other paid zones, Monday to Saturday from 8:30 to 20:30, and it is free on Sundays. The cheapest option is AMTAB’s Park & Ride: €1 for the whole day, shuttle bus included. Bari Vecchia, the old town, is a ZTL that you must not drive into. This guide covers the zones, Park & Ride car parks, bookable garages near the station and the ferry port, and the ZTL rules.
Do you need a car? Not for Bari itself: the old town, Murat and the seafront are walkable, and Park & Ride shuttles cover the rest. A car pays off for Polignano a Mare, Alberobello, Matera and the Valle d’Itria. Most visitors pick up at the airport: compare car rental at Bari Airport on DiscoverCars, and see our guide to car hire in Italy and the ZTL rules in Italian cities.
Street parking in central Bari is run by AMTAB, the city transport company. In the regulated parking zone (ZSR), which covers Murat, San Nicola and parts of Madonnella and Libertà, every space is paid for non-residents from 8:30 to 20:30, Monday to Saturday. Murat, the modern centre around Via Sparano, is the dearest area at €2 an hour; the other zones cost €1. The cheapest option for a day in town is AMTAB’s Park & Ride: €1 for the whole day, including the shuttle bus to the centre for the driver.

It is bounded by Corso Vittorio Emanuele, Piazza Massari, Piazza Isabella d’Aragona, Corso Senatore Antonio De Tullio, Lungomare Imperatore Augusto and Piazza IV Novembre, and controlled by seven gates (V1 to V7). The rules in force come from a 2022 city resolution: inside, parking is kept for residents and authorised vehicles, and only two marked routes are open to all drivers, on working days from 6:00 to 21:00, solely to reach the car park on Piazzale Mons. Michele Mincuzzi. Everywhere else you need a permit. If your accommodation is inside the old town, ask it to register your plate before arrival. Source: AMTAB ZTL page.
