Salerno is the easiest gateway to the Amalfi Coast: you leave the car in town and take the ferry to Amalfi or Positano. Street parking in the centre costs €2.00 per hour and is paid every day until 03:00; the municipal car parks range from €1.00 per 2 hours at Via Vinciprova to €2.00 per hour at Piazza della Concordia, next to the ferry pier. Paid street parking and the municipal car parks are run by Salerno Mobilità, the city’s own company. The blue bays are divided into numbered zones: the central ones are paid every day until late at night, the outer ones only on working days. The historic centre is a camera-controlled ZTL.

Salerno Mobilità runs the main car parks. These are the most useful for visitors; all tariffs are the operator’s published rates.
Large car park on the seafront square next to the Molo Masuccio Salernitano, where the Amalfi Coast ferries board. Open 24 hours, with a lower level (Sottopiazza Concordia) at the same hourly rate.
Underground car park beneath Piazza della Libertà, at the western end of the seafront near the Stazione Marittima and the historic centre. The hourly rate falls the longer you stay.
Car park at the mouth of the Irno river, east of Piazza della Concordia, with a surface level and an underground level. A good-value choice if you do not mind a short walk along the seafront.
Car park close to the railway station and the Irno district. The cheapest option within walking distance of the centre.
Parking area at the Manfredi pier, on the port side of the seafront – convenient for boats leaving from there and for the Stazione Marittima.
Car park at the football stadium on the eastern edge of the city, charged at a flat rate. The Salerno metro (a suburban train) links the Stadio Arechi stop with the central station in about 20 minutes. Avoid match days.
For a ferry day, Piazza della Concordia is the closest. For several hours in the centre, Foce Irno (€1.00 per hour) or Via Vinciprova (€1.00 per 2 hours) cost about half as much. For a full day on a budget, the flat €2.00 at Stadio Arechi plus the metro is hard to beat.
Travelmar boats to Amalfi and Positano (calling at Vietri, Cetara, Maiori and Minori) board at Piazza della Concordia (Molo Masuccio Salernitano), with some departures from Molo Manfredi. The full timetable runs from spring to autumn. Check your ticket for the pier, then choose the car park accordingly:
The Centro Storico is a limited-traffic zone with camera-controlled gates. Treat it as closed to visitors at all times and do not follow a sat-nav into the old lanes: each passage through a gate is recorded and fined separately, and the notice reaches you through the rental company. If your hotel is inside the ZTL, ask it in advance how access is arranged.
You can pay at the parking meters or by phone. Salerno Mobilità names EasyPark and Telepass as accepted apps. With an app you pay only for the time used and can extend the session remotely.
