Rebuilt from the official City of Caserta parking plan and ZTL ordinance and the Reggia di Caserta pages: blue-line tariffs, ZTL gate hours, palace hours and tickets; removed old Google ratings and unverified garages.

Do you need a car? Not for the Reggia alone: the train from Naples stops right opposite the palace. A car pays off for Casertavecchia, San Leucio and day trips to Pompeii or the Amalfi Coast. Naples Airport is the nearest pick-up: compare car rental at Naples Airport on DiscoverCars or pick-up points in Caserta, and read our guide to car hire in Naples and the ZTL rules in Italian cities.

How Parking Works in Caserta in 2026

Caserta has two blue-line tariffs set by the city: zone A at €1.20 an hour in the centre and zone B at €0.60 an hour further out. The Royal Palace (Reggia di Caserta) has no car park of its own, so visitors use the blue lines, a private garage or the train: Caserta station stands directly opposite the palace. Several central streets are camera-controlled ZTL gates, some of them only in the evening and at weekends.

Parking for the Reggia di Caserta

The palace states clearly that it has no public car park. Drivers leave the A1 at Caserta Nord or the A30 at Caserta Sud and follow the signs for Caserta. The main entrance, for the Royal Apartments, the Royal Park and the English Garden, is on Piazza Carlo di Borbone; a second entrance at Corso Giannone 5 is for the park and garden only. Motorhomes are directed to the camper area at the Bosco di San Silvestro, which belongs to the Reggia complex.

ZTL: Camera Gates in the Centre

Important: Via Mazzini, Via Maielli and Largo Sant’Elena are closed to unauthorised cars 24 hours a day, and Corso Giannone, the street of the park entrance, is closed Monday to Saturday from 7:45 to 9:00 and 12:00 to 14:30. The other gates are mostly active in the evening and at weekends. Cameras record every plate.

The city changes these hours for concerts and holidays, so check the signs at each gate. If you visit medieval Casertavecchia on a weekend, park outside the village before 11:00 or walk in.

Street Parking: the Blue Lines

Bays are numbered and marked on the road. At the meter, type in the number of your bay before you pay; the number is painted on the outer sides of the bay. Zone A costs €1.20 an hour with no break; zone B costs €0.60 an hour and is free every day from 14:00 to 16:00. Source: City of Caserta parking plan.

Where to Park for Free

  • Zone B lunch break: zone B blue lines are free every day from 14:00 to 16:00.
  • Night: blue lines are free after 21:00 from Monday to Thursday and after midnight from Friday to Sunday, and before 8:00.
  • White lines: spaces outside the blue-line zones cost nothing.

The city does not publish a list of free streets, so we do not name any. Unlike many Italian cities, Sundays are not free in Caserta.

Caserta station is directly opposite the palace: leave the station on the Piazza Carlo di Borbone side and cross the square. From Naples, regional trains run from Napoli Centrale, and high-speed trains also stop at Caserta. If you are staying in Naples, leaving the car there and taking the train is often simpler than driving.
