Vicenza's historic centre is a 24/7 ZTL with eleven camera-controlled gates. Most central paid car parks (Park Verdi, Park Borgo Berga and the others operated by GPS Global Parking Solutions) sit just outside the walls and start from €0.50 per 15 minutes. If you only need to visit Palladio's UNESCO buildings for a few hours, the smartest move is the free interchange car park at Cricoli or Stadio with the SVT Centrobus shuttle at €2.90 return – parking is free, you only pay the bus. ZTL fines run €83 to €332, and as of 2026 multiple same-day entries to the same ZTL count as a single violation.

Vicenza's ZTL: what every visitor must know

The Zona a Traffico Limitato has been in force since 1996. Eleven varchi (camera gates) ring the historic centre, all enforced 24 hours every day with only Corso Fogazzaro running on a dual schedule (20:00-09:00 weekdays, 24h on Sundays and holidays).

Common trap: there is no separate “ZTL Notturna” in Vicenza. The whole centre is full-time ZTL except for the Corso Fogazzaro gate. If your GPS routes you through Contrà Pedemuro San Biagio or Via Garibaldi without a permit, the camera will catch your plate and the fine arrives by post weeks later (typically €83 base, 30% discount if paid within 5 days).

How to pay for street parking

Five officially supported payment options:

  • GPS Vicenza – the official municipal app, replacing the older aimfacile
  • EasyPark
  • Telepass / Telepass Pay
  • MyCicero
  • Traditional coin parquímetro
Tip: EasyPark is the easiest for foreign visitors – it works across Italy and supports German, French and English. Sign up at home before the trip; SMS verification can be patchy on roaming.

Free and cheap parking by neighbourhood

Cricoli + Stadio (interchange P+R)

Both lots are completely free and the Centrobus into the centre runs from 06:30 to 22:00. Best option if you only need the centre for a half-day.

Around the railway station

Mix of blue zone and unregulated streets just south of the station. Free after 20:00.

Outside the city walls (Viale Trento area)

Streets parallel to Viale Trento and toward Borgo Casale have free unregulated parking once you leave the immediate blue-zone perimeter. 15-minute walk to Piazza dei Signori.

Watch out: some plates with the words “Vicenza Fiera” or “evento” override the normal blue-zone rate and charge €6-€10 per day during fiera periods. Read every sign before locking the car.

What changed in 2026

Italy froze national blue-zone tariff increases for all of 2026 (Milleproroghe decree). The biggest practical change for visitors: multiple same-day entries to the same ZTL now count as a single violation per the 2026 Codice della Strada reform. Previously each camera trip was a fresh fine; now you cannot be hit twice for entering and leaving the same zone on the same day.
