Mantua (Mantova) is a compact Renaissance city on three lakes – and its historic centre is a ZTL that is active every day. The smart way in is to park free at Campo Canoa or Montelungo and take the free shuttle; blue bays cost €0.80–1.70 per hour, and Pradella Parking charges just €5 a day. Parking in Mantua
On-street parking in Mantua is run by ASTER, the city’s in-house company, with three blue-line tariff zones. The historic centre is a camera-enforced ZTL that is active every day – so the best plan is to leave the car in one of the free park-and-ride car parks and take the free shuttle into town.

Blue bays are free during the lunch break (13:00–14:30) and after 20:00. Zones 2 and 3 are also free on Sundays and holidays, but zone 1 in the centre is paid every day.
Mantua’s car parks are mostly outside the ZTL, and three of the best are free.
Large free car park (about 460 spaces) by the Ponte di San Giorgio, across the lake from the Castello di San Giorgio. A free shuttle runs to Piazza Sordello and the Palazzo Ducale every 10 minutes.
Free park-and-ride next to Palazzo Te, with the “Navetta Te” shuttle to Via Matteotti every 15 minutes.
ASTER car park at Largo Porta Pradella with 362 spaces, about 15 minutes’ walk from the centre (automatic closure 22:00–06:00).
Small ASTER car park (about 32 spaces) right by the Castello di San Giorgio and the Camera degli Sposi.
Private covered car park on Via Mazzini, open 24 hours, within walking distance of the centre.
APAM shuttles from Campo Canoa (to Piazza Sordello) and Montelungo (to Via Matteotti) run weekdays 07:00–21:00 and weekends 09:00–21:00. They are free on weekdays; on Sundays and holidays a €1 day ticket applies.
Mantua is one of the easiest Italian art cities to visit without paying for parking.

Park at Campo Canoa and take the shuttle, or use Parcheggio Castello if you find a space. Never drive into the ZTL.
Piazzale Montelungo is right next to the palace and free.
Campo Canoa is just across the bridge; Parcheggio Castello is next to the castle.
Mantova station is on Piazza Don Leoni. Regional trains reach Verona in about 48 minutes from around €5.
The UNESCO-listed Renaissance town (shared listing with Mantua) is about 35 km south-west; parking outside the walls is easy.
