Street parking in Lille costs €2 for the first hour in the yellow and orange zones and €1 in the green and azur zones in 2026, paid from 9:00 to 19:00, Monday to Saturday (green zone Monday to Friday). Evenings after 19:00, Sundays and public holidays are free everywhere, the orange zone gives 30 free minutes and the azur shopping streets a free hour. Underground garages in the centre start at about €2–2.50 an hour on Parclick, and the metro park-and-ride car parks are free with a valid transport ticket.

Do you need a car in Lille? Not for the city: the Grand-Place, Vieux-Lille and both stations are within walking distance, and the metro and tram cover the rest. A car is useful for day trips to the Opal Coast or Flanders. Compare car hire at Lille Airport (Lesquin) on DiscoverCars, and check the France toll calculator before you take the motorway.

Holders of a European disabled parking card or a CMI “stationnement” card park free, but the city asks them to declare the start of parking in EasyPark, Flowbird or Indigo Neo and to display the original card on the dashboard. Without the declaration a fine can be issued automatically.
Pay at the meter with coins or a bank card, or in one of the approved apps: EasyPark, Indigo Neo or PayByPhone. You enter your number plate, and Lille checks payment with automatic number-plate reading (LAPI). If you do not pay, or overstay, you get a post-parking charge (FPS) of €35 in the yellow and orange zones and €25 in the green and azur zones.
The big garages around the Grand-Place and the shopping streets are run by Indigo. These are the lowest prices Parclick showed for a booking on 24 October 2026:

The park-and-ride car parks (parkings relais) next to the metro are free if you use public transport: the Lille tourist office lists 4 Cantons – Stade Pierre Mauroy (about 20 minutes to the centre) and Les Prés (about 16 minutes) in Villeneuve-d’Ascq and Saint-Philibert in Lomme (about 30 minutes), all free with a valid Ilévia ticket (Lille Tourism). Ilévia’s own website could not be checked on 24 October 2026, so confirm the exit rules at the car park.
The City of Lille’s Crit’Air page describes differential traffic during pollution peaks, decided by the Nord prefecture. On those days only cars with a Crit’Air 0, 1, 2 or 3 sticker may drive in a perimeter of 18 municipalities around Lille, and offenders face a €68 fine. Order the sticker only from certificat-air.gouv.fr: it costs €3.85 and takes about 10 days by post (lille.fr Crit’Air page). Foreign cars need one too.
