Parking in Lille: Zone Colours, Free Hours & Garage Tips 2026

Lille colour-codes its kerbs, and the colours got a refresh: the yellow zone (hypercentre) charges from the first minute, orange gives 30 free minutes, green (residential) is moderate and free on Saturdays, and the newer azur zone on shopping streets grants a full free hour. Vieux-Lille's cobbles are tow-away bait, and the FPS comes fast. Here's the 2026 map of who pays what.

Meters run weekdays and Saturdays in the paid zones (Sundays and holidays free), with apps (PayByPhone/Flowbird) covering the city. Register your plate correctly – enforcement is by scan vehicle, and the FPS lands automatically.

Azur is the gem: a genuinely free hour on shopping streets covers most errands – validate at the meter/app even for the free hour so the scan-car sees you.

Vieux-Lille & the Garages

The old town's narrow lanes mix pedestrian stretches, residents' bays and delivery windows – photogenic, unforgiving. For the Grand-Place, the cathedral and a proper wander, the underground garages (Grand-Place, Opéra, Nouveau Siècle, Euralille's giants by the stations) cap the day at predictable rates and end the colour-decoding.

Braderie de Lille (first September weekend): the entire centre closes to traffic and parked cars are towed wholesale beforehand – if you're visiting Europe's biggest flea market, come by train or park far out on the metro line.

Budget Plays

  • Green-zone Saturdays: free legal all-day parking a 10–15 minute walk out
  • Sundays: free everywhere on-street
  • P+R + metro: lots at the metro ends (4 Cantons, CHU) for event days and commutes
