Parking in Bruges: P+R, Garages and Tips 2026

Parking in Bruges
Safe & CHeap parking
All locations

Parking in Bruges is best handled outside the historic centre. The free Park+Ride lots on the outskirts (Steenbrugge, Bevrijdingslaan, Magdalena) are 5-15 minutes by bus to the Markt. Inside the centre, Centrum-Station garage is the cheapest at 5.50 EUR/24h, while above-ground street parking runs up to 18 EUR for 4 hours.

Bruges parking zones explained

Bruges uses a tiered system from free P+R lots on the outskirts to expensive on-street parking inside the canal ring. Knowing which colour of bay you can park in saves both money and a 100-200 EUR fine.

Centrum-Station offers a free return bus ticket for the driver and up to 3 passengers on the day you park, as long as you paid the garage. Save 8-12 EUR vs paying at the bus stop.

Paying for street parking – apps that work

4411 (Belgian standard)

The most common Belgian SMS + app parking system. Lets you start, extend and stop sessions, pay by card, and stop early. Recommended over the meter.

Note your plate, zone code (3 digits on the meter) and duration before starting – 4411 asks for all three.

EasyPark

Universal European app, works in Bruges centre. Convenient if you use it in other European cities (Amsterdam, Paris).

Yellowbrick

Dutch + Belgian parking app, works for some Bruges zones. Useful backup if 4411 rejects your card.

Coin/card meters

On every block in centre. 4-hour max session, no early-stop refund. Use only if no smartphone.

Where to park by area

Markt / Belfry / Burg

No street parking. Centrum-t Zand, Pandreitje or t Zand are closest. From Station garage, free bus.

Beguinage / Minnewater

Katelijne is the closest garage, 5 min walk. Pandreitje also works.

Sint-Anna and Jeruzalemkapel

East side of centre. Park at Centrum-Station and walk through historic streets.

Train station area

Centrum-Station garage is the obvious choice with free bus return.

P+R outskirts

Free P+R + free bus is the cheapest and most relaxed option for day trippers.

During Easter Bruges weekend, Christmas markets (December) and the Procession of the Holy Blood, expect P+R lots to fill very early. Plan for paid garage backup or arrive before 09:00.

Top parking tips for Bruges

  • Use a P+R lot for day trips – free parking + free bus is the cheapest combination.
  • Pre-book Centrum-t Zand on Parclick if you want to walk straight to the Markt.
  • Use 4411 or EasyPark instead of coin meters – you can stop early and save minutes.
  • Photograph your bay number and any time-limit signs before walking away.
  • Ask your hotel if they partner with a garage – many have voucher discounts.
  • Drive into the historic centre on weekends without a reservation – many streets restrict traffic.
  • Pay drive-up at t Zand if you can pre-book – the saving is about 10-15 EUR/day.
  • Park on a yellow line “just for 5 minutes” – towing is fast in centre.
  • Skip the bus token at Centrum-Station – you lose a 4 EUR per-passenger benefit.
  • Trust unmarked spots near Concertgebouw or Onze-Lieve-Vrouw – watch for resident discs.

2026 update

Bruges raised centre street rates ~10% in January 2026 – the 4-hour cap is now 18 EUR vs 16 EUR previously. P+R lots and Centrum-Station price unchanged. New 4411 app version includes Apple Pay and Google Pay.
