Strasbourg quietly runs Europe's best parking deal: the CTS park-and-ride costs about €4.20 for 24 hours – and the price includes return tram tickets for everyone in the car, up to seven people. With the Grande Île a UNESCO-pedestrianised island and central garages charging real money, the P+R isn't the budget option – it's the correct one. The 2026 guide.

The P+R System

DetailValue (2026)
Price~€4.20 / 24h – includes return tram for all occupants (≤7)
Free windowFirst 30 minutes (drop-off)
Long staysBeyond 72h: €20 per extra 24h – not for week-long airport-style parking
LocationsRotonde (A/D lines), Elsau, Baggersee, Poteries, Krimmeri and more – ring the city on every tram line

The mechanics: park, take a ticket, and at the tram stop machine convert it into the all-occupants return passes. From Rotonde you're at Homme de Fer (cathedral side) in under 10 minutes; Baggersee serves arrivals from the south (A35), Elsau from the west.

Family math: four people, central garage day + four return trams would cost 5–6× the P+R's €4.20. There's no version of the arithmetic where driving into the centre wins.

If You Insist on the Centre

The Grande Île itself is largely pedestrian/restricted; garages on its rim (Gutenberg, Austerlitz, Kléber side) charge standard big-city rates with day caps that still triple the P+R. Street bays in the surrounding quarters are metered with FPS enforcement – fine for a quick errand, poor for sightseeing days.

Christmas market season (late Nov–Dec): central access tightens further with security perimeters, and garages fill by 10:30. The P+R lots scale better – but even they peak on Advent Saturdays; arrive before 10:00.
