Do you need a car? For Lleida itself, not really: the old town and the Seu Vella are walkable, and high-speed trains run from Lleida-Pirineus to Barcelona and Madrid. A car pays off for the Pyrenees, the Montsec or the wine villages of the Costers del Segre. DiscoverCars lists car rental in Lleida; if you fly in, compare Barcelona Airport or Reus Airport. Street parking in central Lleida is in the zona blava (blue zone), run by the city council (La Paeria). Unusually, the price depends on your car’s DGT environmental label and on the type of zone. In a normal blue zone an hour costs €1.05 to €1.35, and you can stay up to 2 hours 30 minutes. The municipal underground car parks charge €0.0473 a minute (about €2.84 an hour) or €17.50 for 24 hours. For a day or more, a pre-booked space in a covered car park is usually the easier option.

The zone type and the maximum stay are shown on the signs and on the meter. Tickets are charged in steps of €0.05; if you pay by card at the meter, the minimum is €0.50. A foreign-registered car has no DGT sticker, so expect to be charged the “no label” rate.

The city’s own underground car parks, such as the one under Plaça Sant Joan in the centre, charge by the minute: €0.0473 a minute (about €2.84 an hour) or €17.50 for 24 hours, according to the 2026 fiscal ordinance.
Buy a ticket at the meter or in a mobile parking app and keep to the maximum stay for that street: 150 minutes in normal zones, 300 minutes in low-rotation and long-stay zones, and 30, 60 or 100 minutes in high-rotation zones near shops. The paid hours are shown on the signs and meters; we could not find them published online, so check before you leave the car.

Yes. Streets outside the zona blava areas are free, and within the zona blava you only pay during the hours shown on the signs. If you do not mind a walk, the residential streets across the river in Cappont and further out from the centre are the usual places to look. Read the signs carefully: some streets are reserved for residents.
Lleida has had a low-emission zone (Zona de Baixes Emissions) in the centre since January 2025, and fines have been issued since July 2025. It applies on weekdays from 7:00 to 20:00. Vehicles without a DGT label may not enter, unless they qualify for an exception. Label B cars can still enter until 2028. According to the Spanish motoring club RACE, foreign-registered vehicles that meet the access requirements are exempt, and occasional visitors are authorised automatically by the cameras for a limited number of days. Rental cars registered in Spain carry a label. For an older car, check the rules on paeria.cat before you drive into the centre.
