Pontevedra is famous for giving its centre back to pedestrians – and it did so without a paid blue zone. There are no street meters at all. Instead the city offers free car parks on the edge of the centre, short-stay “servizos” bays inside it, and paid underground car parks for those who want to be closer.

Around 4,500 paid spaces are available in underground car parks. The prices below come from a local press survey of June 2023 – the latest comparison available – so allow for small increases.

For a day in the old town, a free edge-of-centre car park and a ten-minute walk costs nothing. If you prefer to be close, the underground car parks cost roughly €9–17 for a full day.
Pontevedra has formally declared its urban area a low-emission zone (ZBE), but – unlike most Spanish cities – the council applies no restrictions by environmental label, no restricted hours and no fines. Any car may drive in; the limits are the pedestrian streets and the 15-minute rule.
The old town is pedestrian. Park at Praza de España or the Alameda, or use a free car park and walk.
Free parking at Corvaceiras on the river; the paid APK2 Mercado car park is on Avenida de Bos Aires.
The free Estación – Xulgados car park has about 100 spaces next to the railway station.
If you are leaving a car while walking a stage, note that a vehicle may stay at most one month in a free car park.
