Vigo is Galicia’s biggest city and the gateway to the Cíes Islands – and parking is simple once you know the XER blue zone. Blue bays cost €0.60 per hour (2 hours max.) and are free at weekends, Parking Areal caps at €16 a day, and the car park at A Laxe sits right next to the ferry terminal. Street parking in central Vigo is regulated by the XER (Xestión de Estacionamento Regulado) – the local blue zone, run for the city by Dornier (Telpark group). Since 10 September 2026 Vigo also has a low-emission zone (ZBE) in four areas, so check the rules below before you drive in.

Pay at the meter (coins or bank card), with the XER prepaid card or with the Telpark app, which the operator lists as its official app. The 2-hour limit applies even if you pay with the app.
Vigo has several 24-hour underground car parks in the centre and next to the port. Prices below are the published or reported rates at the time of writing.
Underground car park on Rúa Areal with about 265 spaces, close to the marina, the Casco Vello and the main shopping streets.
Car park of the A Laxe shopping centre, right next to the Estación Marítima – the most practical option for the Cíes and Cangas ferries. Open 24 hours.
Reopened car park on As Avenidas, opposite the Real Club Náutico, with 184 spaces and per-minute billing.
Large underground car park (around 590 spaces) under Rúa Policarpo Sanz, a short walk from Porta do Sol and Príncipe.
For a short visit, the blue zone is cheapest (€1.45 for 2 hours) – and free at weekends. For a full day, Parking Areal caps at €16. For the Cíes ferry, park at A Laxe next to the terminal.
Free parking near the centre is scarce on weekdays, but there are good options.
XER blue bays are free on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays – the easiest way to park centrally for free.
Large free parking areas run along Samil beach. They fill quickly on summer weekends; city buses (Vitrasa) connect Samil with the centre.
Streets without blue markings away from the core are free, but check the signs and remember that O Calvario and Bouzas are inside the new ZBE.

Parking Areal or the blue zone, then walk up into the old town.
Park at A Laxe next to the terminal. To visit the Cíes you need a free authorisation from the Xunta de Galicia (autorizacionillasatlanticas.xunta.gal) before buying the ferry ticket; return fares from Vigo are roughly €27.50–32.50 and daily visitor numbers are capped in high season.
There is parking near the park on the hill; the walk down to the Casco Vello takes about 15 minutes.
Free parking along the beach; arrive early in July and August.
Passenger ferries cross the ría from the Estación Marítima – leave the car at A Laxe and go on foot.
