Street parking in central Elche costs at most €1.65 for the maximum two hours (€0.55 for an hour) in 2026. The blue zone (ORA) is paid Monday to Friday 9:00–13:00 and 17:00–20:00 and Saturday 9:30–13:30; Sundays, middays and evenings are free. In summer the city drops the afternoon charge from 15 July and the whole service in August. Cars with a Spanish DGT ECO or Zero label park free for the first two hours.

Prices come from Elche’s parking tax ordinance (Ordenanza fiscal, tasa por estacionamiento), which charges in small steps up to the two-hour limit. The ORA is run with the municipal company Pimesa and covers around 1,000 bays in the shopping streets. Checked on 23 October 2026; the Pimesa website was offline that day, so the ordinance text is the version it last published.

The summer relief is decided by the council each year. In 2026 it confirmed the free afternoons from 15 July (elche.es) and the free month of August, with normal hours back from 1 September. Elche also has green zones (zona verde) in a few streets around Avinguda de la Llibertat, Plaza de Barcelona and Calle Doctor Caro; these are paid in the morning only (Monday–Saturday, depending on the street), also with a two-hour limit.
For longer stays than two hours, use a car park. Parclick lists three car parks in Elche that can be booked in advance, with the price shown for your dates: see Elche car parks on Parclick. Pimesa also runs municipal car parks in the centre; their current tariffs were not available online on the day we checked, so look at the price board at the entrance.
Outside the ORA streets, parking in Elche is free unless signs say otherwise. Blue road markings and the ticket machines show where the ORA applies. In the centre, the free windows (13:00–17:00, evenings, Saturday afternoon, Sunday and the whole of August) are the realistic way to park at no cost.
Yes, on paper, but it does not affect visitors. Elche’s low-emission zone (ZBE) came into force on 31 December 2025 without general restrictions: until 2030 only municipal vehicles, buses and contractors’ vehicles without an environmental label are restricted, plus possible one-off measures during pollution episodes (elche.es).
Do you need a car in Elche? For the city itself, no: the Palmeral, the Basilica of Santa María and the old town are close together on foot. A car is worth it for Santa Pola, Tabarca ferry day trips, the Vega Baja or the Costa Blanca. Elche’s own municipality contains Alicante Airport, where the rental desks are: compare car hire at Alicante Airport (ALC) on DiscoverCars.
