Street parking in central Salamanca costs €0.90 for the first hour and €2.20 for the maximum two hours in the blue zone (2026). The ORA is paid Monday to Friday 9:00–14:00 and 16:00–20:00 and Saturday 9:00–14:00; Sundays, public holidays, middays and evenings are free. For longer stays, the green zone allows five hours for €4.85, Parclick car parks start at about €1.70 an hour, and the city has 24 free park-and-ride car parks. Do not drive into the pedestrian old town: cameras fine unregistered cars €200.

On 15 July 2026 Salamanca started a new ORA contract, the biggest expansion of paid street parking in almost 40 years, with more than 600 new paid bays. There are two colours. In the blue zone you can stay two hours: €0.90 for the first hour and €1.30 for the second, with a minimum ticket of €0.25 (16 minutes). In the green zone the limit is five hours and the hourly price falls after the second hour, so a full five hours costs €4.85. Residents with a card park in the green zone, so visitors often find it full in the evening.
Paid hours are the same for both: Monday to Friday 9:00–14:00 and 16:00–20:00, Saturday 9:00–14:00. A double line (blue or green) marks “zone 0” bays reserved for short stays where everyone pays, residents included.

The city lists 24 free park-and-ride car parks (aparcamientos disuasorios) with about 3,175 spaces in total. Some of the larger ones are La Aldehuela (two car parks, 650 spaces), Calle La Radio (302 spaces, bus lines 1, 10, 11 and 12) and Glorieta de la Charrería (195 spaces, lines 5, 8, 10 and 11). Street parking outside the ORA area is also free, and inside it you pay nothing on Sundays, public holidays, weekday middays (14:00–16:00), evenings after 20:00 and Saturday afternoons.
The wider low-emission zone has been in force since June 2024, but until 2029 all cars may drive in regardless of their environmental label, including foreign-registered cars (City of Salamanca).
Do you need a car in Salamanca? Not inside the city: the Plaza Mayor, the cathedrals and the university are all within a short walk. A car pays off for day trips to Ávila, Zamora, Ciudad Rodrigo or the Sierra de Francia, or for continuing to Portugal.
