Salamanca's golden sandstone centre is best enjoyed with the car parked early: the blue zone (recently expanded city-wide in its biggest shake-up in 40 years) allows 2 hours max at €0.90 the first hour and €1.30 the second, while underground garages like Santa Eulalia and Colón sit minutes from the Plaza Mayor and run 24/7. Sundays, holidays, lunchtimes and evenings are free on the street. The 2026 guide.

Salamanca's ORA now covers more streets and meters than ever, so assume any central bay is paid during Monday–Friday 9:00–14:00 and 16:00–20:00, Saturday 9:00–14:00. The 2-hour cap is enforced; apps let you top up remotely. Outside those hours – and all Sunday – it's free, which makes late-afternoon arrivals pleasantly cheap.
Santa Eulalia (239 spaces, 4 accessible, 24h) is the workhorse nearest the historic grid; Colón serves the Plaza Mayor flank. Driving into the very core is pointless – the streets between the two cathedrals and the Casa de las Conchas are pedestrian-priority and hostile to cars.
€0.90 for the first hour and €1.30 for the second, with a two-hour maximum, Mon–Fri 9–14 and 16–20, Saturday mornings.
Garage Colón or Santa Eulalia – both 24/7 and a few minutes' walk. Street bays nearby are blue-zone with the 2-hour cap.
Sundays and holidays, weekday lunchtimes (14:00–16:00) and evenings after 20:00, plus Saturday afternoons.
Across the Tormes river and in outer neighbourhoods, 10–15 minutes' walk – fine for long stays if you don't need the car daily.
Many old-town streets are restricted; ask your hotel for the access route and use their recommended garage rather than improvising.
