L’Escala, the anchovy town at the southern end of the Bay of Roses, has simple parking rules once you know that everything depends on the season. From 15 June to 15 September the blue zone is paid from 08:00 to 21:00; for the rest of the year most parking is free. Since May 2026 the zone is run by Eysa and paid with the mot: aparcar app. This guide covers the blue zone, the municipal car parks, the long-stay option and parking for the Empúries ruins.

L’Escala has a single type of regulated parking: the blue zone (zona blava). It is seasonal – in summer it covers the whole centre and seafront, in winter only a handful of central areas remain paid. There is no green zone.

The blue zone restarted for the 2026 season on 25 May under a new operator, Eysa. You can pay at the meters or with the official app, mot: aparcar; earlier apps used in the town no longer work. The town hall states that tariffs are unchanged – the visitor rate is shown on each meter.
Parking in L’Escala is mainly in open-air municipal car parks and on the street.

Summer-only long-stay car park for visitors who want to leave the car all day. The council set the visitor price at €2 to €8 per day depending on the length of stay.
For a couple of hours in the old town, use a blue-zone car park and pay at the meter or in the app. For a full beach day in summer, the long-stay car park on Avinguda Francesc Macià is the cheapest regulated option.
The Greek and Roman site of Empúries (MAC Empúries) has no car park of its own; the car parks around it are municipal or privately run. The car park at the entrance is paid in summer – in high summer the museum ticket gives a discount – and usually free the rest of the year.
In the medieval hamlet of Sant Martí d’Empúries, the Era and Lloba car parks are paid from 1 June to 30 September (08:00–23:00), and at weekends and on public holidays from mid-April and in October. The council’s published rate was €1.86 per hour.
From mid-September to mid-June most of the blue zone is switched off and parking on the seafront and in the residential districts of Riells and Montgó is free. Only a few central areas keep the winter timetable (09:00–13:00 and 16:00–20:00).
