On the date of your reservation, enter the parking lot as usual, take a ticket at the entrance and park in any empty spot.
The cheapest place to park for Carcavelos beach is the municipal car park next to Carcavelos station: €0.50 per 15 minutes, capped at €1.00 per day plus VAT, open 24 hours and about 0.9 km from the sand. In summer two temporary beach car parks charged €2 a day in 2025, and a covered car park on Avenida de Portugal can be booked from €12.50 a day. Do you need a car? Not for the beach alone: Carcavelos is a stop on the Cascais train line from Lisbon. A car helps for Sintra, Cabo da Roca, Guincho or a coast-hopping day. Carcavelos beach and the town behind it belong to the municipality of Cascais, and parking here is run by the council company Cascais Próxima. For visitors there are three realistic options: the large municipal car park next to Carcavelos station, the summer-only beach car parks a few minutes from the sand, and a covered car park on Avenida de Portugal that you can book online. Street spaces close to the beach are few and go early on sunny days.

Municipal car park at Avenida Tenente-Coronel Melo Antunes 320, right next to Carcavelos train station. It is open 24 hours a day, every day, takes cash and MB Way and has electric car chargers. Under the council regulation (published in the Diário da República in November 2023) the tariff is €0.50 per 15 minutes, capped at €1.00 per day, plus VAT; a lost ticket costs €5.00. The tariff in force is posted at the entrance. From here the beach is about 0.9 km away, a 12–15 minute walk downhill. Part of the car park is also the council’s tow pound, and motorhomes are not allowed. Official car park list · regulation and tariff (PDF).
In the 2025 bathing season the council opened two temporary car parks near the beach from 30 June: P1 on Avenida Jorge V (cars only, 9:00–19:00, €2 per day, run by the Carcavelos fire brigade) and P2 on Estrada da Torre (coaches only until 12:00, then cars from 12:00 to 19:00 for €2 per day). They are closed outside these hours and outside the season. The council has not yet published the 2026 arrangements, so check the signs or Cascais Próxima before you rely on them.
Covered car park on Avenida de Portugal, Carcavelos (entrance at no. 216), about 15 minutes on foot from the beach. From €12.50 per day on Parclick, height limit 2.1 m, free change or cancellation until 23:59 the day before. If Carcavelos is full, Parede is the next station towards Cascais. Cascais Próxima runs a car park by the station on Rua Capitão Leitão (daily 7:00–24:00, cash, Multibanco card, Via Verde, MB Way), and Parclick lists the covered Plátano car park at Rua Capitão Leitão 344 from €15 per day. Carcavelos streets fall under the Cascais controlled-parking system: the price, paid hours and maximum stay are on the sign and the meter for each street, and you can pay at the meter. The council has not published a separate street tariff for Carcavelos, so we do not quote one. The €1.80 per hour that is often mentioned applies to the red zone in Cascais town centre, not to Carcavelos.
There is no free beach car park at Carcavelos. The cheapest way to spend a whole day at the beach by car is the station car park, capped at €1.00 per day plus VAT. The 180 free minutes a day you may read about are only for Cascais residents with a Viver Cascais card.

From Lisbon you can take the A5 motorway, which is tolled, or the coastal Avenida Marginal (N6), which is free but slower on sunny weekends. Carcavelos is also a stop on the Cascais train line from Cais do Sodré, so you can leave the car at the station car park and continue by train.
