Best Yoga Retreats in Portugal 2026: 6 Picks With Real Prices

A week at a yoga retreat in Portugal costs from about €1,000 to €1,750 per person in 2026 where prices are published: Moinhos Velhos near Lagos charges €1,250 for seven nights in a shared room, and Soul & Surf near Burgau starts at €159 per person per night. We checked six retreats on their own websites on 12 October 2026. Three publish a price list; the other three are venues where each visiting teacher sets the price. Four are in the Algarve, within about an hour and a half of Faro Airport, and two are in the hills of central Portugal, about two and a half hours from Lisbon.

Rebuilt from the retreats’ own websites: six retreats confirmed as operating, with 2026 prices, minimum stays, exact locations and transfer costs. Four entries that we could not confirm were removed, and Vale de Moses is now placed correctly in Oleiros.

Do you need a car? For most of these retreats, no: Moinhos Velhos, Vale de Moses and Yoga Evolution collect guests from the nearest town, and Casa Fuzetta is a 15-minute taxi ride from Faro Airport. A car is really useful for Monte Velho, which is 4 km from the nearest village, and for anyone who wants to see the coast before or after the retreat. We compare the rental desks at both airports with DiscoverCars; our Faro Airport car rental guide and Lisbon car rental guide explain deposits, cards and insurance.

1. Moinhos Velhos, near Lagos Juice detox + yoga

Moinhos Velhos is a juice-fasting and yoga retreat in a 16-hectare valley at Cotifo, near Bensafrim, beside the Bravura reservoir and about 15 minutes inland from Lagos. It is the only one of the six with a complete public price list, so you know the cost before you write to anyone.

Location: Cotifo, Bensafrim, 8600-077 LagosFrom Faro Airport: about 87 km, 1 hourStay: 7 or 10 nights2026 price: €1,250–1,750 for 7 nights; €1,785–2,500 for 10 nights

The price depends on the room: €1,250 per person in a shared twin room, €1,450 in a shared twin cottage, €1,500 in a compact single and €1,750 in a premium single, each for seven nights. From June to September there are also bell tents at €995 (shared) or €1,100 (single). The price covers juices and broth, daily yoga and meditation, workshops, sauna, pool and an initial health check. A deposit of €350 secures the place and the balance is due 14 days before arrival. Retreats still to come in 2026 start on 17 and 31 October, 14 and 21 November and 5 December, and the website says 2027 retreats booked now are held at 2026 rates.

Getting there: you do not need a car. The retreat collects guests in Lagos free of charge, and a transfer from Faro Airport costs €80 each way for one person, €45 per person for two and €35 per person for three or more.

2. Soul & Surf Portugal, near Burgau Surf + yoga

Soul & Surf runs surf-and-yoga stays from April to November at a farmhouse in Almádena, just inland from the fishing village of Burgau and about 15 minutes from Lagos. Stays are fixed at three nights (Wednesday to Saturday), four nights (Saturday to Wednesday) or seven nights.

Location: Almádena, 8600-102 Luz, LagosFrom Faro Airport: about 99 km, 1 hour 15 minutesStay: 3, 4 or 7 nights2026 price: from €159 per person per night

The rate is all-inclusive: accommodation, breakfast and dinner every day, lunch on surf days, and surf lessons and yoga classes – two of each on a three-night stay, three on four nights and five on a week. Boards, wetsuits and transport to the beach are included. The exact price depends on the room and the dates and is calculated on the booking page; €159 is the starting rate. Extra surf lessons cost €75 and extra yoga classes €15.

Getting there: a private transfer from Faro Airport costs €100, paid to the driver. The cheaper option is a shuttle bus to Lagos bus station (from €20, but allow two hours or more when it is busy) and a taxi from there for about €10. Soul & Surf itself suggests a rental car, from about €30 a day, for longer stays and for anyone arriving from Lisbon. If you collect one in town instead, see our Lagos car hire guide.

3. Yoga Evolution Retreats, Oleiros Ashtanga + yin

Yoga Evolution is a small retreat run by Sue and Peter in forest at Vale do Bacelo, near Amieira in the municipality of Oleiros, central Portugal. Every retreat lasts six nights, with two yoga classes a day – vinyasa flow, ashtanga and yin – plus meditation.

Location: Amieira, Oleiros, Castelo Branco districtFrom Lisbon Airport: about 200 km, 2 hours 30 minutes to OleirosStay: 6 nightsPrice: £600–995 per person

Prices are quoted in pounds: £600 in an eco caravan, £650 in a twin or double room, £700 in a single room, £800 for an en-suite room, £850 for a room with a veranda and £995 for a room with a private bathroom. That includes eleven yoga classes, three vegetarian meals a day, a picnic day at the river Zêzere, yoga mats and the transfer between Oleiros and the retreat. A deposit of £150 is required and returning guests get 10% off. The next retreats run from 18 to 24 October 2026 and from 27 December 2026 to 2 January 2027.

Getting there: no car is needed once you reach Oleiros, because the pick-up from there is included in the price.

4. Vale de Moses, Oleiros Forest valley

Vale de Moses is a family-run retreat in a forested valley at Amieira, also in the municipality of Oleiros – not in the Serra da Estrela, as many lists say. It opens from April to November, and most retreats run from Monday to Saturday, five nights. Guests sleep in farmhouse rooms, shared stone cottages or bell tents, eat three vegetarian or vegan meals a day and practise in a wood-and-glass shala; there are river pools, forest walks and treatments.

Location: Amieira, 6160-052 OleirosFrom Lisbon Airport: about 200 km, 2 hours 30 minutes to OleirosStay: 5 nights, Monday to SaturdayPrice: set by each retreat leader

Each week is led by a different teacher. The 2026 programme included Forrest yoga, Kundalini, somatics, breathwork and Pilates, and the retreat page asks you to contact the leader of each week for prices and availability. As a guide, the Conscious Arts retreat held on 14–19 September 2026 cost €800 for a single bed in a shared cottage or bell tent, €950 for a double room to yourself and €1,400 for two people sharing, with a 20% deposit. The last retreat listed for 2026 is Essential Somatics, from 19 to 24 October.

Getting there: the retreat recommends the Rede Expressos coach from Lisbon’s Sete Rios station to Oleiros, where its team collects you for the short drive into the valley. If you drive, follow the directions on the retreat’s website rather than a sat nav, because some of the local roads are not mapped correctly.

5. Monte Velho Retreat Centre, Carrapateira Ocean views

Monte Velho is a family-run eco-retreat inside the Costa Vicentina Natural Park, 4 km from the village of Carrapateira and about 3.5 km from the surf beaches of Amado and Bordeira. It is a venue, not a single programme: visiting teachers rent it for yoga, meditation, breathwork and other retreats, and its website lists the coming ones. The round wooden yoga halls have heated cork floors, and food is a vegetarian and vegan buffet.

Location: Monte Velho, Carrapateira, 8670-230 AljezurFrom Faro Airport: about 112 km, 1 hour 20 minutesStay: minimum 4 nightsPrice: set by each organiser

Monte Velho takes group bookings only, with a minimum of four nights and full board, so you book through the teacher who runs the week you want, and the price is theirs. The centre does not publish a per-person rate. Extras on site are priced: a one-hour massage costs €70 and a 90-minute surf session €45.

Getting there: this is the retreat where a car helps most. Airport transfers are not included; the centre quotes €120–140 each way from Faro for up to four people, and €295–320 for a taxi from Lisbon. A taxi from the centre to the beach costs €15–20 and to Lagos €50–60. Without a car, the alternative is a train from Faro to Lagos, a bus to Vila do Bispo and a €25 taxi. The centre itself advises renting at Faro Airport; the nearest local rental offices are in Lagos. Our Sagres car rental guide covers this corner of the Algarve.

6. Casa Fuzetta, Olhão Townhouse

Casa Fuzetta is a large private house in the old fishing town of Olhão, in the eastern Algarve, that is rented as a whole to retreat leaders. It sleeps up to 22 people, and its calendar lists 35 events for 2027, most of them yoga, Pilates, meditation or coaching retreats.

Location: Travessa Heliodoro Salgado 7, 8700-558 OlhãoFrom Faro Airport: about 15 km, 15 minutesStay: minimum 5 nightsPrice: whole house €12,500–24,600 for 5 nights

You cannot book a single room with the house: you choose a retreat from the 2026 or 2027 list on its website and book with that retreat’s leader, who sets the per-person price. The house rate, which the leader pays, runs from €12,500 for five nights in December 2026 to €24,600 for five nights in July 2027. For 2027, April to June and August to October are already sold out for exclusive hire.

Getting there: no car is needed. Olhão is 15 minutes from Faro Airport by taxi and the house is in the town centre, within walking distance of the market, the ferries to the Ria Formosa islands and the railway station.

Not on the list: Quinta da Comporta, a wellness hotel at Carvalhal on the Alentejo coast, hosts two- to five-night yoga and Pilates retreats, but it publishes no prices and the next dates on its calendar are in March 2027. We also removed four names that appeared in the earlier version of this page: Yoga Rocks is in Crete, not Sagres, and we could not confirm that a “Senda Sol” retreat in Aljezur, a “Monte Velho Equo Resort” with horses or a yoga programme at the Pestana Royal hotel in Madeira exist.

Which retreats need a car?

RetreatWithout a carCost of getting thereIs a car worth it?
Moinhos VelhosFree pick-up in Lagos; airport transfer€80 each way alone, €45 each for two, €35 each for three or moreNo. You stay on site all week
Soul & SurfPrivate transfer, or shuttle to Lagos plus taxi€100 private; shuttle from €20 plus about €10 taxiOptional. Useful for exploring on free afternoons
Yoga EvolutionCoach to Oleiros; pick-up includedcoach fare onlyNo
Vale de MosesCoach from Lisbon Sete Rios to Oleiros; pick-upcoach fare onlyNo, unless you combine it with a road trip
Monte VelhoTransfer, or train, bus and taxi€120–140 each way from Faro (1–4 people)Yes. The village is 4 km away and the beaches 3.5 km
Casa FuzettaTaxi from Faro Airport, 15 minutesnot quoted by the houseNo. Everything in Olhão is on foot

The arithmetic is simple for Monte Velho: two transfers for a solo traveller add up to €240–280, so compare that with a week’s rental from Faro Airport, which also gets you to the beaches and to Sagres without paying €15–60 per taxi ride. Shared between three or four people, the transfer is the cheaper choice.

Driving in the Algarve is straightforward. The A22 motorway that runs from Faro towards Lagos has been toll-free since 1 January 2025, so reaching any of the four Algarve retreats costs nothing in tolls. The motorways from Lisbon towards Oleiros are tolled; work out the cost with our Portugal toll calculator and read how tolls work in a rental car before you set off.

How to choose

By what you want from the week

A fast with yoga: Moinhos Velhos. Surfing and yoga: Soul & Surf. Two classes a day in a small group: Yoga Evolution. A particular teacher or style: look through the calendars of Vale de Moses, Monte Velho and Casa Fuzetta, where the programme changes every week.

By season

Soul & Surf and Vale de Moses open from April to November. Moinhos Velhos has dates into December, and Yoga Evolution runs a New Year retreat. Bell tents at Moinhos Velhos are available from June to September only.

By budget

The lowest published prices are a bell tent at Moinhos Velhos (€995 for seven nights, summer only), the eco caravan at Yoga Evolution (£600 for six nights) and three nights at Soul & Surf, which at the €159 starting rate comes to €477. Single rooms cost more everywhere: at Moinhos Velhos the difference between sharing and a premium single is €500 a week.

Practical tips

  • Book on the retreat’s own website or with the teacher directly. Dates, prices and teachers change every year, and booking platforms are not always up to date.
  • Check what the deposit is and when the balance is due: Moinhos Velhos asks for €350 and the rest 14 days before arrival; Vale de Moses retreats ask for 20%.
  • Ask what is not included. Airport transfers, massages and one-to-one sessions are extra almost everywhere.
  • Food is vegetarian or vegan at all six; tell the retreat about allergies when you book.
  • Yoga mats are provided at Monte Velho and Yoga Evolution; ask elsewhere if you do not want to bring your own.
  • Wi-Fi is limited by design: at Monte Velho it only works in the main hall and at reception.

Before-you-book checklist

  • Confirm dates, price and room type on the retreat’s own website or with the teacher.
  • Ask how to get there and what the transfer costs before you book flights.
  • For Monte Velho, compare two transfers (€240–280 for one person) with a week’s car rental from Faro Airport.
  • Check the deposit, the date the balance is due and the cancellation terms.
  • If you rent a car, read the fuel and deposit conditions of the offer, not only the daily rate.
  • Tell the retreat about allergies and dietary needs when you book.
