Cádiz activated its ZBE on 1 January 2026 – the Casco Antiguo and Paseo Marítimo are now camera-enforced 24/7 with a €200 fine (€100 early pay). Tourist-friendly news: vehicles with any DGT sticker (ECO, CERO or C in 2026; only ECO/CERO from 2027) can enter freely. The smartest covered garage is Muelle Reina Sofía (EYSA, 581 spaces) with a €8.58 daily cap – the cheapest 24-hour rate in the city. Free parking exists in Puerta Tierra (Av. Andalucía, Bahía Blanca, San Severiano) with a 25-minute walk or city bus line 1 into the old town. For Carnival (5-24 February) the city flips to 11,770 spaces with traffic closures around Plaza de la Campana – book ahead.

Free parking in Cádiz

Cádiz is a narrow peninsula – free street parking is scarce in the old town but plentiful in Puerta Tierra.

Av. Andalucía / Bahía Blanca / San Severiano (Puerta Tierra)

Long stretches of free unrestricted street parking in the new town, behind the Ciudad de Cádiz sports complex. Walk via Playa de la Victoria (25 min) or take CMTBC bus line 1 to the centre (10-15 min). Best base for visitors driving in.

Avenida de Astilleros / Plaza de Sevilla zone

Streets behind ADIF station have unregulated parking. Note: during Carnival 165 spaces are flipped to resident-only.

Cortadura beach area (south of ZBE)

Free roadside south of the Cortadura roundabout – outside the ZBE perimeter. Popular park-and-walk for day visitors. The northern Paseo Marítimo strip is now inside the ZBE so only park south of Cortadura.

Maritime ferry P+R

The Consortium of Bahía de Cádiz offers free parking at Rota and El Puerto de Santa María when using the maritime catamaran service (CMTBC transport card). Park outside Cádiz proper, ferry into Plaza San Juan de Dios.

Payment apps active in Cádiz

  • Telpark – the OFFICIAL EMASA partner for paying Zona Azul/Naranja and SABA garages
  • EasyPark – covers on-street zones
  • ElParking – on-street + Reina Sofía garage bookings
  • Parking meters – coins and contactless card
Not in Cádiz: MOVA is the Málaga app, not Cádiz. Stick with Telpark / EasyPark / ElParking.

Parking by district

Casco Antiguo (intramuros)

ZBE-restricted. No tourist driving recommended. Best covered option: Muelle Reina Sofía (€8.58/day) or Canalejas. On-street Zona Azul/Naranja only if you have a sticker that meets ZBE rules.

Puerta Tierra (new town, extramuros)

Outside the ZBE (except the Paseo Marítimo strip). Mix of free streets (Av. Andalucía, Bahía Blanca, San Severiano) + Zona Azul/Naranja + covered options (Varela-Playa, Ana de Viya). The logical park-and-walk base.

Paseo Marítimo / Playa de la Victoria

The north strip is now inside the ZBE since January 2026. South of Cortadura roundabout is outside. Beach lots in summer fill before 10:00.

Around the train station

SABA Estación de Tren is the obvious park. The Plaza de Sevilla zone is unregulated mostly except during Carnival.

Watch out: “guardacoches” informal attendants gesture you into legal Zona Azul bays and ask for €5-€10. They have no authority – pay the meter via Telpark and ignore them.

Carnival 2026 impact (5-24 February)

Main public weekends 20-22 February. EMASA reorganises 5-24 Feb:

  • 165 spaces converted to resident-only near Plaza de Sevilla (ADIF area)
  • 185 resident spaces + 115 rotating Zona Azul installed on Av. de Astilleros
  • City inventory during Carnival: 11,770 spaces (3,900 in 12 old-town car parks + 7,870 in 17 extramuros car parks)
  • Reina Sofía surges to €0.03192/min (€19.15/day cap)
  • Av. del Puerto + central streets fully closed on main weekends (first Sat/Sun of coros)

Recommendation: park free in Puerta Tierra extramuros or use the reinforced CMTBC bus + maritime shuttle service.

Tips before you park in Cádiz

  • Check your DGT sticker before driving into the Casco Antiguo – the ZBE is active 24/7.

  • For a multi-day stay, park free in Puerta Tierra and take bus line 1.
  • During Carnival use Puerta Tierra extramuros or the CMTBC maritime service.
  • Free Sundays/holidays apply outside summer; in Jun-Sep on-street is paid every day.

  • Do not pay informal “guardacoches”.
  • Do not park on the Paseo Marítimo north strip if you do not have a DGT sticker – it is inside the ZBE since January 2026.
  • Do not use MOVA app – it does not work in Cádiz.
  • Do not assume Sundays are free in July-August – they are not.
