Rua de Santa Catarina is about 1.5 km long: it starts at Praça da Batalha in the Baixa and climbs north to Praça do Marquês de Pombal. Garaje Santa Catarina is at no. 1379, at the northern end – about 200 m from Marquês metro station, but roughly 1.2 km from the Bolhão market and the pedestrian shopping section with Café Majestic. It is a base for reaching the centre by metro, not a car park on the doorstep of the shops.

From Marquês station, metro line D runs straight downhill into the centre: Trindade is two stops away, Aliados three and São Bento four. The same line continues across the Dom Luís I bridge to Jardim do Morro in Vila Nova de Gaia. On foot, Rua de Santa Catarina leads downhill all the way to the Capela das Almas, the Bolhão market and Praça da Batalha – a pleasant walk down, a steady climb back.

Municipal multi-storey on Rua Guedes de Azevedo, open 24 hours. The bays are narrow, but the hourly price is moderate.
STCP Serviços car park on Rua Fernandes Tomás, open 24 hours, beside Trindade station, where all metro lines meet. By day it charges €0.20 per 15 minutes in the first hour and €0.30 per 15 minutes after that.

For two days or more with the car parked: Garaje Santa Catarina plus the metro. For a few hours in the Baixa: Silo Auto or Trindade. For a full day beside the shopping street: Garagem Ibéria booked online. For São Bento and the Ribeira: SABA Cardosas.

The zone and the maximum stay (2 to 10 hours) are shown on the meter and the signs. On Saturdays only zone I is charged; on Sundays and public holidays street parking is free.
Paid street parking in Porto is run by the city council (through EPorto and, in zone IV, STCP Serviços) – EMEL operates only in Lisbon. You pay at the meter or by phone with Telpark or Via Verde. Keep a few coins as a backup and respect the maximum stay on the sign.
