Garagem Ibéria is a covered garage on Praça da Batalha, in the heart of Porto’s Baixa, a couple of minutes from Rua de Santa Catarina and about five minutes on foot from São Bento station. Booked online it costs from about €12 per day and makes a good base for exploring the historic centre on foot. This guide covers the garage’s hours and height limit, nearby alternatives (Silo Auto, Trindade, Alfândega), street tariffs and the restricted-access streets to avoid.

Paid street parking in Porto is run by the city council (through EPorto and, in zone IV, STCP Serviços) – EMEL operates only in Lisbon. Garagem Ibéria stands on Praça da Batalha, in the middle of the Baixa, which makes it a practical base for seeing the centre on foot.

The maximum stay on the street ranges from 2 to 10 hours depending on the sign. On Saturdays only zone I is charged (11:00–16:00); on Sundays and public holidays street parking is free.
Besides Garagem Ibéria there are several covered car parks within a few minutes’ walk of the Baixa, Aliados and the Ribeira.
Private garage on Praça da Batalha, next to the São João National Theatre and the church of Santo Ildefonso, two minutes from Rua de Santa Catarina and about five minutes on foot from São Bento station. Open Monday to Saturday 07:30–24:00 and Sunday 08:30–20:00. Maximum height 2.2 m – take care with large SUVs and vans.
Municipal multi-storey on Rua Guedes de Azevedo, between Batalha and Bolhão, open 24 hours. The bays are narrow, but the hourly price is moderate.
STCP Serviços car park on Rua Fernandes Tomás, open 24 hours, beside Trindade metro station (all lines). By day it charges €0.20 per 15 minutes in the first hour and €0.30 per 15 minutes after that.
Municipal car park beside the old customs house, open 24 hours – a good choice for the Ribeira and the river cruises without driving up into the centre.
Two covered car parks in the Baixa, a few minutes from Aliados and the Coliseu. Check the price at the entrance or when booking online.
For a short visit, Silo Auto and Trindade usually work out cheaper. For a whole day, booking Garagem Ibéria online (from about €12) is often cheaper than paying at the desk. For the Ribeira, Parque da Alfândega spares you the hills.
The renovated Mercado do Bolhão has no large public car park of its own; its lower level mainly serves deliveries. For the market, use Garagem Ibéria, Silo Auto or one of the Baixa car parks.
In the historic centre, free parking on a weekday is hard to find. The best chances:

On Saturdays only zone I is charged (11:00–16:00); the other zones are free.
Leave the car near a station outside the centre and take the metro to Trindade, Aliados or São Bento.
On the street you pay at the meter or by phone. Porto accepts two apps: Telpark, which lets you pay by the minute and extend remotely, and Via Verde, handy if you already have an account or your rental car has the transponder. Keep a few coins as a backup and respect the maximum stay on the sign.
Garagem Ibéria and Silo Auto are the most direct options; Rua de Santa Catarina is on the doorstep. Livraria Lello and the Clérigos tower are a 10–15 minute walk away.
For the Ribeira, use Parque da Alfândega. The Ribeira itself is a restricted-access area with bollards – do not drive in.
The station is about five minutes downhill on foot from Praça da Batalha. It is served by metro line D (yellow).
