Yes, you can rent a car at Tirana Airport with no deposit, from about €13.50 a day. When we searched Discover Cars on 10 October 2026, 157 of the 1,226 offers for Tirana Airport (TIA) needed no deposit, and the cheapest cost €107.88 for 8 days. The cheapest car overall was €26.06 with €500 blocked on a credit card, so skipping the deposit added about €82 to the trip. What most pages leave out: no deposit does not mean no excess. On the offers we opened, you still owe between €500 and €3,000 if the car comes back damaged.
Rental prices at Tirana Airport are low, and that carries over to deposit-free offers. In Madeira the same choice triples the price (see our Madeira no-deposit comparison). In Tirana it adds roughly €10 a day.

At least nine suppliers sold deposit-free cars at Tirana Airport in our search. We opened the cheapest offer from each and read the rental conditions. The price is only half the story: the excess, the card you need and the pick-up point differ a lot.
| Supplier | From (8 days) | Excess | Card at pick-up | Driver | Rating |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Flexways | €107.88 | €625 to €2,680 | Credit card | 19 to 75 | 9.4 (627) |
| Alfa Rent a Car | €124.65 | €500 | Debit or credit | 21 to 75 | 9.5 (390) |
| Capital Car Rental | €156.68 | €1,900 | None | 20 to 74 | 8.5 (832) |
| CarQ | €225.51 | Not shown | Debit or credit | 21 to 75 | 8.7 (1,074) |
| NoktAutos | €229.09 | €3,000 | Credit card | 25 to 70 | 8.5 (86) |
| Rent Point Albania | €256.22 | €1,500 | None | 19 to 75 | 8.5 (351) |
| Ecorent | €406.86 | €1,000 | None | 19 to 80 | 7.3 (595) |
| Drivus | €416.89 | €1,500 | None | Licence 1 year | 8.9 (337) |
The ninth, Cargini, appeared with a 7-seat Nissan Serena at €699.76. Ratings are Discover Cars customer scores out of 10, with the number of reviews in brackets.
Our pick is Alfa Rent a Car. It was not the cheapest, but for €17 more than Flexways you get the lowest excess of the group (€500), a debit card is enough, and it had the best customer score. We counted 20 deposit-free Alfa offers, including automatics from €178.38. Flexways is cheaper, but “no deposit” there still required a credit card at pick-up, which defeats the purpose for many travellers. If you have no card at all, Capital Car Rental at €156.68 is the cheapest route. Its pick-up point is an airport hotel, so read the meeting instructions on the voucher.
Drivus shows how the pricing works, because it sells one Hyundai i20 in three versions:
€8.15 a day
€600 blocked on a credit card for up to 30 days. Excess €1,000. Total €65.20 for 8 days.
€40.57 a day
Nothing blocked and no card needed at pick-up. The €1,000 excess stays. €259.39 more over 8 days.
€50.42 a day
Nothing blocked and nothing to pay after damage. €338.15 more over 8 days.
Paying €259 to avoid a €600 hold is poor value, and it is the reason to compare suppliers instead of upgrading the first cheap car you see. Alfa’s whole no-deposit rental cost less than half of that upgrade.
Search for a deposit-free car in Tirana and most results are small Albanian sites. Some are rental companies, some are marketplaces, and the rule in the terms is not always the one in the headline. This is what their own pages said on 10 October 2026.
| Company | Deposit rule | Insurance and excess | Driver | Pays with | From |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| TIC Rent Car | None | CDW in the price, excess not published; tyres, underbody and windscreen need extra cover | 21, licence 1 year | Cash, debit, credit | €18 a day |
| Easy Rent Albania | None, no credit card | Not published | Not published | Not published | €20 a day |
| Velo Rent | €100, refundable | Optional full insurance €7 to €20 a day; up to €4,000 without it | 21, licence 2 years | 10% online, rest at pick-up | €17 a day |
| Karruka Rental | None on the home page, “may be required” in the terms | Basic cover, excess not published | Licence 1 year | Cash, debit, credit | €30 a day |
TIC Rent Car is the most open about what the offer means. Its guide puts it in one sentence: “No deposit is a payment term, not a waiver.” Staff meet you outside the terminal doors with the car, and the site lists no airport or out-of-hours fee. Velo Rent’s home page promises no deposit, while its policies page says “We collect a refundable €100 deposit at pickup” and makes you liable for up to €4,000 if you decline its insurance. None of the four publishes an excess figure, so ask for it in writing before you pay.
Deposit checker: pick a company
Fifteen companies that rent cars at Tirana Airport, with the deposit rule from the offer we opened or from their own website on 10 October 2026.
The airport’s official partner page listed 18 car rental companies on 10 October 2026, among them Avis, Enterprise, Goldcar, Hertz, OK Mobility, Rent Point and Sixt. All of them are marked as outdoors, next to arrivals, so nobody has a desk inside the hall. None of the international brands rents without a deposit as standard, but their holds are lower than many travellers expect.
| Company | Deposit | Excess | Card for the deposit | From (8 days) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Enterprise | €290 (mini, economy) | €700 | Credit only | €130.58 |
| Street Rent a Car | €500 | €1,000 | Credit only | €26.06 |
| CarQ | €600 | €600 | Debit or credit | €39.89 |
| Drivus | €600 | €1,000 | Credit only | €65.20 |
| Flexways | €715 | €715 to €2,680 | Credit only | €40.77 |
| OK Mobility | €1,300 | €1,050 | Credit only | €75.13 |
Enterprise publishes its figures for Tirana Airport: €290 for a mini or economy car, €390 for a compact and €1,000 for larger classes, always on a Visa or Mastercard credit card. Carwiz sets the excess for a mini at €540 and says the deposit depends on the car and the cover you choose. Sixt, Hertz and Avis do not publish deposit amounts for Albania, so we have left them out instead of guessing.
A deposit is money blocked on your card as security. An excess is the most you pay if the car is damaged or stolen. Removing the first does not remove the second.

If you have a credit card with €500 to €715 of free limit, a standard booking with Discover Cars Full Coverage is cheaper and protects you better. On the Drivus i20, Full Coverage cost €5.79 a day, €46.33 for the rental. That makes €111.53 for 8 days with the excess, tyres, glass and underbody refundable, against €124.65 for Alfa’s no-deposit Polo with a €500 excess you carry yourself. The price of that route is the hold: €600 blocked for up to 30 days, and you pay the supplier first if something happens, then claim it back.
A no-deposit rental earns its price in four situations: you only have a debit card, your credit limit is low, you need the limit for hotels and fuel on the road, or you do not want to wait weeks for a release. Discover Cars says holds usually lapse within 3 weeks, and OK Mobility quotes 14 to 31 days depending on your bank.
Pick-up checklist for a no-deposit rental
Tick each point before you leave the car park. It takes five minutes and settles most arguments before they start.
The airport is at Rinas, north-west of Tirana. Every deposit-free offer in this article starts there: at the rental offices outside arrivals, at the car rental centre, with a driver waiting for you, or at a nearby hotel. If you are spending the first days in the capital, you do not need a car there. Take a bus or taxi (see Tirana Airport transfers) and collect the car when you leave town. Our page on car rental in Tirana covers the city offices.

Yes. On 10 October 2026, 157 of the 1,226 offers for Tirana Airport on Discover Cars needed no deposit, from €107.88 for 8 days. Suppliers with deposit-free cars included Flexways, Alfa Rent a Car, Capital Car Rental, CarQ, Rent Point Albania and Drivus.
From about €13.50 a day in our search. The cheapest no-deposit car cost €107.88 for 8 days, against €26.06 for the cheapest car with €500 blocked on a credit card. A no-deposit car that accepts a debit card started at €124.65, and one that needs no card at all at €156.68.
No. The deposit and the excess are separate. The no-deposit offers we opened still carried an excess of €500 to €3,000, which is the most you pay if the car is damaged or stolen. Only offers marked “No deductible” remove it.
Yes. Alfa Rent a Car and CarQ accepted debit cards in our search, and Capital Car Rental, Rent Point Albania, Ecorent and Drivus had offers with no payment card required at pick-up, from €156.68 for 8 days. Local firms such as TIC Rent Car also take cash.
No. Discover Cars states that buying Full Coverage online does not remove the requirement to leave a security deposit. It refunds what the supplier charges you after damage. In our search it cost €5.79 a day. To avoid the hold, choose an offer marked “No deposit”.
On the offers we opened it ranged from €290 to €1,300: Enterprise €290 for a mini or economy car, Street Rent a Car €500, CarQ and Drivus €600, Flexways €715 and OK Mobility €1,300. Most of these must be left on a credit card in the main driver’s name.
Discover Cars says a hold usually lapses within 3 weeks of the end of the rental, one Tirana offer stated up to 30 days, and OK Mobility quotes 14 to 31 days depending on the bank. The money is blocked, not charged, but it reduces your available card limit during that time.
Usually yes, with permission and a fee. TIC Rent Car charges nothing for Kosovo, €40 for Montenegro and €50 for North Macedonia or Greece. Enterprise charges €48 per rental and Carwiz €50. On Discover Cars, tick “Cross-border allowed” and check the fee on the offer.
