From Faro Airport, Vamus line 55 takes you to Vilamoura in 41 to 51 minutes, with six weekday departures (08:30, 10:30, 14:30, 15:30, 17:30 and 19:20). Inside the resort you can walk or use line 9, which links Vilamoura with Quarteira, Faro and Albufeira about ten times a day. Line 55 (Vilamoura – Aeroporto) runs between the airport bus stop and Vilamoura (Posto 2), calling at Almancil and Quarteira. Some trips go round the University of the Algarve campus at Gambelas, which adds about ten minutes. These are the weekday times in the official Vamus Algarve planner for the week of 26 October 2026:

Line 9 (Albufeira – Faro) is the coast bus. On weekdays it leaves Vilamoura (Posto 2) towards Quarteira and Faro bus station ten times, from 07:53 to 19:53, and passes the Casino stop towards Albufeira eleven times, from 07:17 to 20:02. Line 66 (Albufeira – Vila Real de Santo António) adds three buses a day in each direction. Times can change with the season, so check the planner before you go.
Vilamoura is flat and easy on foot. The promenade from the marina to Quarteira is a popular walk.
In season a small road train loops between the marina, the beach and the hotels. It is a sightseeing ride rather than transport, and it publishes no official timetable or fares online, so ask at the stop or at the marina.
Taxis wait around the marina and the casino. They run on the meter and there is no fixed airport fare, so ask for an estimate before you set off. Ride-hailing apps show the price before you book, which helps at night after the last bus.
The buses cover the coast between Faro and Albufeira well, but the rest of the Algarve is harder: Ponta da Piedade, Sagres, the west-coast beaches, Monchique and Silves. The A22 motorway has been toll-free since 1 January 2025, so a hire car makes those easy day trips.
