However, its Trustpilot score of 1.7 out of 5 from over 155,000 reviews is hard to ignore. Common complaints include hidden charges at the counter, unresponsive customer service, and difficulty getting refunds.
AutoSlash takes a different approach: you request a quote and its system automatically applies discount codes, loyalty rates, and corporate coupons. It also monitors your existing reservations and alerts you if the price drops.
This model works well for US domestic rentals, but the platform is English-only, heavily US-focused, and the “request a quote” model means you are waiting for results rather than browsing in real time.

We ran identical searches across all seven platforms for five popular destinations: Lisbon Airport (Portugal), Barcelona El Prat (Spain), Orlando International (USA), Cancún Airport (Mexico), and Auckland Airport (New Zealand). For each, we searched for a compact car for a 7-day rental, picking up and dropping off at the same airport location. We noted the displayed price, whether mandatory fees were included upfront, the number of results shown, the clarity of insurance and cancellation terms, and the overall speed and usability of the site.
We also reviewed Trustpilot scores, total review volume, award history, and language support to round out our assessment. No platform paid for placement in this article, and we tested each one as a regular user without disclosing we were reviewing them.
Regardless of which platform you use, a few strategies consistently save money. Book early – prices typically rise as the pickup date approaches, especially in peak season. Always check whether the quoted price includes mandatory local fees like airport surcharges and road taxes; platforms that hide these make it hard to compare apples to apples.
Consider your insurance carefully. The collision damage waiver (CDW) offered at the counter is almost always more expensive than buying coverage through the comparison platform or a standalone provider. The one platform we would exercise caution with is Rentalcars.com. Despite its size and brand recognition, the volume of negative customer experiences suggests systemic issues that have not been addressed. Until its customer service catches up with its inventory, there are better options available.
